We hope you enjoyed yourselves over the Christmas period and enjoy a better golfing 2016! If there's anything you would like to see more of in our weekly newsletter during the course of the year please let us know.

Tuesday 15th December

This ladies competition was a Bonus Stableford which was held over 13 holes with double points counting on the Par 3's. The winner was Anne Greenhough who had a great score of 32 Points. 2nd place went to Liz Faulkner who finished with 31 Points. Third place went to Rhona Banks who managed 30 Points.

Thursday 17th December

This Thursday competition had 50 players competing in the Stableford format. The winner was Mike Durkin who had a good score of 40 Points to win on a card playoff as he managed 22 Points on the back nine. This reduced Mike's Thursday winter handicap down to 13.3. Runner up was Iain Gourlay who also had a score of 40 Points but he lost out in the card playoff after having one less point on the back nine than Mike did. However this still was enough to reduce his Thursday winter handicap down to 2.9. Third place went to Roger Richards who had a score of 39 Points to reduce his Thursday winter handicap down to 8.0. Fourth place went to Roy Delooze who also had a score of 39 Points to miss out on a card playoff. Fifth place went to Graham Scholes who had a score of 38 Points.

Saturday 19th December

This Saturday's competition was the Betterball Stableford Christmas Special which had 143 golfers competing to win a Christmas hamper each over 16 holes. The winning pair was Greg Ball & John Culleton who had a fantastic score of 42 Points to win by 3 Points and the claim the Christmas hampers! The runners up were Steve Tetlow & Dave Fisher who had 39 Points. Third place went to John Isherwood & Graham Scholes who also had 39 Points but lost out on a card playoff. Fourth place went to Greg Molyneaux & Deb Parrington who also had 39 Points but lost out on the card playoff. Fifth place went to Ian Pethybridge & Paul Harrison who had a score of 38 Points and did enough on the back nine to beat three other teams on a card playoff.

Tuesday 22nd December

This ladies competition was a Par competition, with 15 ladies competing, held over 13 Holes. The winner was Shirley Warner who had a score of 1 Down to win by one. The runner up went to Penny Sadler who had a score of 2 Down.

Thursday 24th December

This Thursday competition took place on Christmas Eve in poor weather conditions. 28 players braved the weather to compete in the Stableford format held over 16 Holes. The winner was Andy Gordon who had a very good score of 38 Points. Runner up was Mike Alcock who finished one behind on 37 Points. Third place went to Clive Aldred who managed 34 Points. Fourth place went to John Culleton who had 33 Points. Fifth place went to Roy Delooze after also having 33 Points but losing out to John on a card playoff.

Tuesday 29th December

This week's ladies competition was a 5 Clubs & a Putter competition held over 13 Holes in a Stableford format. 12 ladies competed with the winner being Sue Tranter who had a score of 23 Points to win by two Points. Runner up was Morag Hales who had a score of 21 Points.

Thursday 31st December

This week's Thursday competition on New Year's Eve was a popular one with 63 golfers competing. The winner was, once again, the man in form Andy Gordon! Andy had 40 Points to win on a card playoff which reduced his Thursday winter handicap down to 9.7. Runner up was Jim Edwards who also had 40 Points but lost out to Andy on a card playoff. This reduced Jim's Thursday winter handicap down to 9.7. Third place went to Denis Walker who had a score of 39 Points to reduce his Thursday winter handicap down to 15.0. Fourth place went to John Culleton who also had 39 Points to lose out on a card playoff. Fifth place went to Ian Cairns who also had 39 Points to also lose out on a card playoff.

Saturday 2nd January

The first competition of 2016 was a Waltz Stableford with 132 players competing. The winners by a remarkable 6 points was Tommy Mahood, Derek McHugh, Julian Hurst & Bryan Worrall who had a great score of 77 Points for a 16 hole competition. Runners up were the team of Ken Bradley, Peter Davies, Warren Jones & Ian Porter with 71 Points. Third place was Bert Rigby, Steve Whitfield, Tony Owen & Steve Ball also with 71 Points but they lost out on a card playoff. Fourth place went to Geoff Cox, Dave Moston, Peter Hutchinson & Mike Durkin who had 69 Points.
