It doesn't seem that long ago since Danny Willett was pulling on a certain Green Jacket, but here we are again, it's Major time. What lies in store? Well, it's not going to be a birdie fest, that's for sure.
Put simply, Oakmont is a brute - as you can discover for yourself below. The U.S. Open this weekend is a must-watch, especially if you like to see players work extra hard for their pars. This type of golf isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it does make a change to seeing winning totals around the -15 mark, as is often the case.

Tuesday 7th June
This week's ladies competition was the Norma Moore Trophy with 51 players competing. The winner was Judith Brown, who had a great score of 90 - 21 = 69 Nett, to reduce her handicap down to 19.3. Runner up went to a recent winner in Pam White, who had a score of 96 - 27 = 69 Nett, to miss out on a card playoff but did reduce her handicap down to 23.5 thanks to an exceptional scoring reduction of 2.0 shots. Third place went to Jennifer Hart who had a score of 83 - 11 = 72 Nett, to reduce her handicap down to 10.9. Fourth place went to Margaret Marsden who had a score of 91 - 18 = 73 Nett.
The winner of the nine hole competition was Jean Cordwell who had 14 Points.
Thursday 9th June
This week's Thursday White Tee Strokeplay was another busy one with 94 players competing. The winner was Brad Read who had a great score of 67 - 0 = 67 Nett, to win by one shot and to reduce his handicap down to +0.9. Runner up was Steve Kinder who had a score of 77 - 9 = 68 Nett, to reduce his handicap down to 8.6. Third place went to Will Mackay who had a score 71 - 3 = 68 Nett, to miss out to Steve on a card playoff and reduce his handicap down to 2.8. Fourth place went to Ian Potter who had a score of 91 - 22 = 69 Nett, to reduce his handicap down to 21.1. Fifth place went to Ben Wallis who had a score of 72 - 3 = 69 Nett, to reduce his handicap down to 2.7.
The winner of the nine hole stableford competition was Wilson Lamb who had a score of 16 Points.
Saturday 11th June
This week's Saturday competition was the Monthly Medal & Isherwood Qualifier. Due to heavy rain on Friday, the bunkers were declared as GUR resulting in the competition having to be a non-qualifier. The winner of Division 1 was Ian Sleigh who had a great score of 74 - 9 = 65 Nett, to win the division by one shot. The runner up was Ric Arber who had a score of 76 - 10 = 66 Nett. Third place went to Tony Salt who also shot a 76 - 10 = 66 Nett, to lose out on a card playoff to Ric. Fourth place went to Jerry Hilditch who shot a 69 - 3 = 66 Nett to also miss out on a card playoff.
The winner of Division 2 and the winner of the Monthly Medal was Chris Bradburn who had a fantastic score of 76 - 15 = 61 Nett, to win by a massive 6 shots! Runner up went to Mike Verdon who shot an 82 - 15 = 67 Nett. Third place went to David Newsholme who shot an 81 - 13 = 68 Nett. Fourth place went to Noel Kelly who shot an 82 - 14 = 68 Nett to miss out on a card playoff.
