US Open Sweepstake Results 

The winner of the sweepstake for the US Open this year was Adam Mannion who won £84 account credit thanks to Dustin Johnson's victory. Philip Wilkinson won £56 account credit thanks to Jim Furyk's tied 2nd place. Betty Suter also won £56 account credit thanks to Scott Piercy's tied 2nd place. Ian Porter also won £56 account credit due to Shane Lowry's tied 2nd place. Dave Moston won £14 account credit thanks to Sergio Garcia's tied 5th place. John Campbell also won £14 account credit due to Branden Grace's tied 5th place.


Competition news 

Tuesday 14th June 

This ladies competition was the Centenary Trophy and there were 58 ladies competing in the betterball stableford format. The winners were Di Scholes & Bridget Gray who won by one point with a score of 43 Points. Runner up spot went to Pauline Cowell & Rosemary Murphy who had 42 Points. Morag & Georgina Hales finished in third place with 41 Points. Fourth place went to Elaine Bilton & Barbara Booth who had a score of 40 Points. 
Six ladies entered the nine hole individual stableford competition with Jean Cordwell being the winner with a score of 12 Points.

Thursday 16th June 

This week's Thursday Yellow tee Stableford had 44 players competing. The winner was lain Gourlay who had a great score of 40 Points to win by one point and to reduce his handicap down to 4.4. Runner up was Julian Hurst who had 39 Points to reduce his handicap down to 1.2. Third place went to Dan Young who also had 39 Points to miss out on a card playoff and to reduce his handicap down to +0.4. Fourth place went to Ron Birchall who also had 39 Points to miss out on a card playoff but reduce his handicap down to 8.9. Fifth place went to Walter Winstanley who had 38 Points to reduce his handicap down to 7.9.

Friday 17th June 

Lady Captain's Day was held on this Friday with 64 ladies taking part in the individual medal format. The winner was Di Scholes who won by one shot with a score of 88 - 18 = 70 Nett to reduce her handicap down to 16.6. The runner up was Jill Evans who had a score of 103 - 32 = 68 Nett to reduce her handicap down to 30.4. Third place went to Fiona Goddard who had a score of 84 - 12 = 72 Nett to reduce her handicap down to 11.5. Carolyn Smith came fourth place after having a score of 96 - 22 = 74 Nett to reduce her handicap down to 21.6. 

Six ladies competed in the nine hole individual stableford with Jean Cordwell being the winner again with 12 Points.

Saturday 18th June 

This week's Saturday competition was Round 1 of the Captain's Prize with Round 2 taking place this Saturday. The winner of Round 1 was Mike Haselden who shot a brilliant score of 66 + 1 = 67 Nett to lead going into the second round and reducing his handicap to +1.8. Runner up went to junior Charlie Markert who shot a 75 - 8 = 67 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 7.2. Third place currently is David Moreton who shot a 74 - 5 = 69 Nett to sit two shots back and reduce his handicap down to 4.8. Fourth place went to Geoff Cox who had a 79 - 10 = 69 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 9.3. 

Fifth place went to David Wilkinson who shot a 75 - 6 = 69 Nett to reduce his handicap to 5.2. Sixth place went to Guy Hindle who had a score of 71 - 1 = 70 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 0.4. Seventh place went to Gareth Walter who had a 77 - 7 = 70 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 6.9. Eighth place went to Ian Saunders who also shot a 77 - 7 = 70 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 6.2.
