The Scratch Prize or Club Championship was played over 36 holes. The leader after the first round was fourteen year old Jake Hibbert with a gross 68. He led at halfway by four shots from Brad Read on 72.
The second round brought an exciting finish with Guy Hindle making a charge to try and stop Jake becoming the youngest winner of the Scratch Prize in the clubs history.
Guy finished with a second round 69 for a total of 145. This meant that Jake had to score better than 77 to win. After visiting a gorse bush and taking a seven on the 17th , Jake stood on the 18th tee needing a 4 or better to win.
Following a fantastic birdie on the final hole Jake became the youngest winner of the Scratch Prize at the age of fourteen!
Massive congratulation to Jake.
Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic
