Tuesday, 11 July 2017 This ladies competition was the Norma Moore Trophy which had been rearranged and the Bunty Booth Qualifier with 36 players competing. The winner was Di Scholes, who had a great score of 87 - 16 = 71 Nett, to reduce her handicap down to 14.9. Runner up went to Jo Baldwin, who had a score of 93 - 21 = 72 Nett to reduce her handicap down to 20.2. Third place went to Sue Murphy who had a score of 97 - 23 = 74 Nett. Fourth place went to Penny Sadler who had a score of 95 - 20 = 75 Nett. Thursday, 13 July 2017 This Thursday Yellow tee Stableford was a busy one with 117 players competing. The winner was Steve Kinder who had a great score of 43 points to win by one point and to reduce his handicap down to 7.6. Runner up was Keith Rodgers who had 42 points to reduce his handicap down to 7.7. Third place went to Paul Marsh who also had 42 points to miss out on a card playoff and to reduce his handicap down to 11.3. Fourth place went to Mike Goulden who had 40 points to reduce his handicap down to 12.3. Fifth place went to Roger Richards who had 40 points to reduce his handicap down to 10.2. The winner of the 9 hole competition was Paul McGarry who had a score of 15 points. Saturday, 15 July 2017 This week's Saturday competition was a board competition with the Lyon Trophy being competed for by 168 players. The winner was John Barwick who had a great score of 83 - 15 = 68 Nett to win on a card playoff and reduce his handicap down to 14.5. Congratulations go to John. Runner up was Guy Hindle who shot an excellent 67 + 1 = 68 Nett to lose out to John on a card playoff but reduce his handicap down to +1.7. Third place went to Gary Glendenning who shot an 80 - 12 = 68 Nett to also miss out on a card playoff but reduce his handicap down to 10.9. Fourth place went to Owen Pennington who shot a 92 - 24 = 68 Nett to also miss out on a card playoff but reduce his handicap down to 22.3. Fifth place went to Callum Hopkins who had a 73 - 5 = 68 Nett to also miss out on a card playoff and reduce his handicap down to 4.2. Sixth place went to Phil Scott who shot an 84 - 16 = 68 Nett to lose out on a card playoff but reduce his handicap down to 14.4. Eighth place went to Keith Isherwood who shot an 82 - 13 = 69 Nett reducing his handicap down to 12.1. Ninth and final spot went to Andrew Mackenzie who shot a 78 - 9 = 69 Nett to lose out on a card playoff, which reduced his handicap down to 8.1. The lowest gross went to Andrew Bate who shot a 72. It must be also mentioned that Paul McFerran shot a fantastic score of 66 + 1 = 67 Nett but he was ineligible to win a prize as he entered after the Noon cut off on the Friday but this still reduced his handicap down to +1.9. Sunday, 16 July 2017 This Sunday saw the playing of the Sharp Trophy. This is a Mixed Greensome medal competition. 56 players competed and the winners were Stuart Tranter and Lady Captain Sue Tranter with a fantastic score of 63.2. In second place with 69.8 were Dot and John Campbell. In third were Di and Graham Scholes with 72. Tuesday, 18 July 2017 This week's ladies competition was the Ladies Silver Jubilee Trophy & Royal Birkdale Medal with 48 ladies. The winner was Margaret Davies who had a great score of 81 - 16 = 65 Nett to win by eight shots! This reduced Margaret’s handicap down to 13.9. Runner up spot went to Edwina Greenwood who shot a 97 - 24 = 73 Nett. Third place went to Elaine Jenkins who had a 101 - 28 = 73 Nett. Fourth place went to Anne Hewitson who shot an 82 - 9 = 73 Nett. The winner of the 9 hole competition was Audrey Clarke who had a score 14 points. Thursday, 20 July 2017 This week’s Thursday White Tee Strokeplay was another busy one with 90 players competing. The winner was Les Ashcroft who had a great score of 86 – 20 = 66 Nett to win by one shot and to reduce his handicap down to 18.6. Runner up was John Warren who had a score of 76 – 9 = 67 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 7.7. Third place went to Steve Fathers who had a score 72 – 4 = 68 Nett to miss out on a card playoff and reduce his handicap down to 3.3. Fourth place went to Steve Daintith who had a score of 73 – 5 = 68 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 5.0. Fifth place went to David J Hamilton who had a score of 75 – 7 = 68 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 6.1. The winner of the nine hole stableford competition was Stuart Tranter who had a score of 17 points. Saturday, 22 July 2017 This week's Saturday competition was the Monthly Medal & Isherwood Qualifier. The winner of Division 1 was Nick Wild who had a great score of 79 – 12 = 67 Nett to win the division by one shot and reduce his handicap down to 10.7. The runner up was Dave Merrell who had a score of 77 – 9 = 68 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 8.3. Third place went to Ray Moor who also shot an 81 – 12 = 69 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 11.7. Fourth place went to Junior Captain Greg Osborne who shot a 74 – 4 = 70 Nett to beat seven others on a card playoff into the prizes. The winner of Division 2 and the winner of the Monthly Medal was Mike Ashcroft who had a fantastic score of 81 – 17 = 64 Nett to win by 3 shots and reduce his handicap down to 14.9! Runner up went to Graham Hughes who shot an 82 – 15 = 67 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 12.5 after receiving an exceptional scoring reduction of 1.0. Third place went to Warren Jones who shot a 90 – 23 = 67 Nett. Fourth place went to John Rutland who shot an 84 – 14 = 70 Nett to reduce his handicap down to 13.9. |
