Tuesday 24th June
This week's ladies competition was
3rd Club, with the format being a bogey competition. 57 ladies turned out to compete, and the winner of Division 1 with a score of All Square was
Sarah Loy, which was just enough to beat runner up
Fiona Goddard on a card playoff.
The winner of Division 2 was
Sue Murphy, who managed a great score of 4 Up. This reduced Sue's handicap down to 23.6. Runner up was Lady Captain
Morag Hales who had a score of 2 Up. The winner of Division 3 was closely contested with a card playoff deciding it after 3 players had a score of All Square.
Val Floyd had the best back nine and walked away as winner, with
Elaine Jenkins runner up and
Pauline Goulden in third.
Thursday 26th June
On Thursday, a yellow tee stableford competition took place, with a fantastic 98 players competing in favourable scoring conditions. The winner, with a score of 42 Points, was Tony Osborne. Tony has reduced his handicap down to 5.3 following some scintilating golf. Phillip Wilkinson was the unfortunate runner up, after losing out on a card playoff who similarly had 42 Points. Third place went to Keith Rodgers, who beat Mike Goulden on a card playoff , with both players scoring 41 Points, Last week's club prize bogey winner Ian Cairns also finished on 41 points, however fell behind both Keith and Mike on countback.
Saturday 28th June
The Lyon Trophy was contested on Saturday, a medal format tournament that is also a board competition. The weather was drizzly rain for the morning starters, and it didn't ease off until just after lunchtime. The top four places were decided by a card playoff - so it was a closely contested competition. The winner was David Moreton with a great score of 72-6=66, which was also the day's lowest gross score. As a result of this, David reduced his handicap down to 4.8. Congratulations David! A close runner up was Neil Wright who had 81-15=66. He did well enough on the back nine to beat Richard Wilkinson on a card playoff. Fourth place went to Harry Blower who managed a 80-14=66.
