This week the Ladies Section were at Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club for an exchange.
The winners of the competition of the day were:-
1st Jean Warburton, Shirley Warner, Barbara Booth & Ann Unsworth
2nd Penny Sadler, Lena O'Connor, Margaret Davies & Val Floyd
Thursday 4th September
81 cards were processed for the white tee mid week medal competition. The overall winner with a magnificent 65 nett was Dan Young (hcp3). In 2nd place was Steve Upham (hcp8) with a 66 nett. Overall 3rd was Iain Gourlay (hcp 4) with 68 nett, with Callum Hopkins (hcp10) narrowly beating Neil Guest (hcp13) with a 69 nett on a card play off.
Saturday 6th September
There were 176 players in the September Monthly Medal and Isherwood Trophy qualifier. The winner of Division 1 was Frank Todd(hcp14) with a pre Scottish Referendum round of 66 nett. In second was Peter Edmonds(hcp12) with a 67 nett , finally 3rd place in Division 1 went to Roger Richards(hcp10) also with a 67 nett. Still with a strong Scottish theme the winner of Division 2 was relatively new member Jim Goldthorpe(hcp22) with a 68 nett. In second the Scots are still coming as John Campbell(hcp17) recorded a 69 nett. Finally in third place was Harry Croft(hcp15) also with 69 nett.
25 Years Recognition
I would like to take the time to say a big thank you to everyone at the club for the wonderful Professionals Day you gave me to mark my 25 years of service to the golf club. I was very surprised by the generous amount collected by the members which means a great deal to me and the many comments that were recorded in the book that was given to me at the same time has given me much cheer in its reading. I have had many kind remarks about the evening celebrations and all I can say is the reason we have one every three years is to let some people the time to recover for the next one. Thank you all once again for giving me a day to remember.
There are still a few bargains to be had in the 40% off SUMMER CLOTHING SALE. We have also taken delivery of the new Autumn/Winter 2014 stock for both Daily Sports and Nike ladies clothing. Whilst we are able to make orders for most of the Nike garments Daily Sports as usual is limited.
