Competition news

Thursday, 19 September

This week’s competition was a Yellow Tee Stableford. Congratulations to Tom Clutterbuck winning the competition with a score of 42 points. In second place with a good score of 40 points was Aidan Burrows. In third place was Bob Scott with a score of 38 points. In fourth with a score of 37 points was Damian Morris-Adams.

9-Hole Competition

Congratulations to Phil Cunningham shooting a great score of 23 points. In second place Dave Tasker shooting a good score of 21 points. In third place was Tyler Owen with 19 points.

Saturday, 21 September

This week’s competition was the Club Prize Bogey, which was played off the white tees. Congratulations to the winner Alan Tranter with a fantastic score of +5. In second place with +2 was Dave Cornwell. In third place was James Garside with a score of +1. In fourth place was John Rimmer also shooting a score of +1.

Tuesday, 24 September

This week’s competition was the Ladies Medal Final. Congratulations to the winner Anne Greenhough who won with a nett 75. In second place also with a nett 75, missing out on a card playoff was Liz Faulkner. In third place with a nett 76 was Di Scholes.

They've done it again

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Cleveland's new Frontline range is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying.
