Greetings from Reay Mackay
Warrington Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Hello golfers,

Driving's for show, putting's for Major titles

Putting criticism of Chambers Bay and the USGA to one side, if you managed to stay up past 3am on Monday then you were rewarded with one of the most entertaining US Open in recent times. True, it wasn't always enthralling for the right reasons as players and pundits queued up to have a dig at the state of the greens, but after Dustin Johnson three-putted the last, Masters champion Jordan Spieth was crowned the winner. The Grand Slam is very much on, and what a story that would be.

Despite all the criticism of the greens, it's somewhat ironic that the best putter in the world came out on top. Other players may have had a length advantage but when it came down to it, it was the flatstick that won Spieth his second Major, helped by his unerring ability to find the right spots on the green, time and time again.

So, with this in mind, it's time to get to work on your putting stroke; it's where you'll most likely pick up strokes on the field. Take a look at the putting article below and/or pop in to see us and let's take a look at your stroke, we may even find that a fitting will unlock your putting potential. Click here to send us an email.
