Sunday 28th June
This Sunday was this year's Club Championship which is a scratch medal held over 36 holes. This year there was a great turnout with 40 players competing. The leader after round 1 was Mike Haselden with a 69 which was enough to lead by two shots in blustery conditions. Dan Young and Derek McHugh were two behind after both having 71. Charlie Loy was a shot further back with a 72. Slightly better scoring in the afternoon meant for a close finale. Dan Young had a 74 to finish with 145. Jerry Hilditch had 72 + 73 = 143. Charlie Loy had a fantastic back nine of 5 under par to have 71 for round 2 which was enough to tie lead with Mike Haselden who had a 74 to finish on 143. Once again a playoff ensued for holes 9, 11 & 18. Over the three holes Mike finished as the winner and once again was crowned as the Club Champion. Congratulations Mike.
Tuesday 30th June
This ladies competition was the Golden Jubilee Jug which is a major board competition and there were 60 ladies competing in the stableford format. The winner was Liz Hatton who had a fantastic score of 41 Points to win on a card playoff and reduce her handicap down to 24.5. Congratulations Liz. A close runner up after losing out in the card playoff was Tracy Greaves who also had 41 Points to reduce her handicap down to 24.4. Third place was Pam White who had 38 Points to reduce her handicap down to 32.6. Fourth place went to Fiona Davies who had 37 Points to reduce her handicap down to 13.7.
Thursday 2nd July
This week's Thursday competition was a white tee medal with 74 players competing. The winner was Steve Fathers who shot a fantastic score of 70 - 4 = 66 to win by two shots and reduce his handicap down to 3.9. Runner up was Don Thomas who had a score of 96 - 28 = 68 to reduce his handicap down to 26.5. Third place went to Ian Hawkins who had a good score of 86 - 17 = 69 to reduce his handicap down to 16.8. Fourth place went to Mark Tate who had a 72 - 3 = 69 to miss out on a card playoff, but reduce his handicap down to 2.3. Fifth place went to John Warren who had a 76 - 7 = 69 to also miss out on a card playoff and reduce his handicap down to 6.8.
Saturday 4th July
This week's Saturday competition was the Monthly Medal & Isherwood qualifier for June with 183 players competing. The winner of Division 1 was Tony Osborne who had a very good 71 - 5 = 66. This reduced his handicap down to 4.9. Runner up was Adam Mantle who had a 71 - 4 = 67 reducing his handicap down to 4.0. Third place went to Shaun Bannon who had a 70 - 2 = 68 reducing his handicap down to 1.8. Fourth place went to Ian Cairns who had a 75 - 6 = 69 to beat three toher on a card playoff reducing his handicap down to 6.0. The winner of Division 2 was Bill Oxley with a great score of 85 - 19 = 66 to reduce his handicap down to 17.8. Runner up went to John Barwick who had an 84 - 18 = 66 to reduce his handicap down to 14.2. Third place went to David J Hamilton who had an 82 - 15 = 67 to reduce his handicap down to 13.6. Fourth place went to Clive Aldred who had an 84 - 14 = 70 to reduce his handicap down to 12.9. The Monthly Medal overall winner was Bill Oxley after having the best back nine in a card playoff.
